Westhawk Quilt and a Variation from Night Owl Quilting

Karen was commissioned to make a quilt to be given as a wedding gift next summer.  When a second granddaughter got engaged, Karen was asked to make a second quilt.  Two quilts that were similar but unique was the order of the day.

First up Karen made the "Bed Size" version of the Westhawk quilt by the Blanket Statement.  It generously covers my Queen size mattress at 92" x 102"

Karen chose the Obsidian pantograph for this one and it adds a great amount of texture to the large pieces of solid fabric. The backing is a wonderful blue Stonehenge ...

Easy Signature Cross Quilt from Night Owl Quilting

This beauty was made by Madeline.  The pattern is called the  Easy Signature Cross Quilt from Sew Can She.  The fabulous fabric is  the More Pie? fabric line from Dana Willard for Figo Fabrics.

Madeline selected the Tickle Too pantograph and requested an orange thread to match the bananas in the fabric.  I sent a picture of some options ranging from light coppery brown to goldfish orange to orangey yellow. We decided the coppery brown was the perfect choice.

And for some added fun on the solid navy backing I repeated the coppery thread instead of using a matching navy ...

2 for Liane from Night Owl Quilting

Liane recently brought me these two quilts.  She told me that this Log Cabin was her first quilt ever.  I think she did a lovely job.

Liane selected the Tickle Too pantograph and a fun Magnifico thread in color 2116 - Desert Flower  .  Sometimes a quilt just calls for a bolder thread choice and I think this one looks fabulous.

The second quilt is the Dueling Diamonds pattern from Seams Sew Me that Liane made for her husband.  He selected this Musica pantograph and we selected a nice blendy thread.

Spin Cycle from Night Owl Quilting

This pretty quilt was brought to me by Heather.  The pattern is called Spin Cycle by Cluck Cluck Sew.  Heather told me she didn't originally set out to make a queen sized quilt, but she enjoyed playing with her fabrics and kept making more blocks and before she knew it - queen sized quilt.

There are lots of pretty prints to enjoy throughout this quilt.  Heather selected the Tickle Too pantograph.

When Heather came by she was just as excited about the backing for this quilt as she was for the front.  Heather had been saving this piece of Tula ...

Shadow Box with an Amazing Backing from Night Owl Quilting

This bright and cheerful Shadow Box quilt was made by Karen for her sister-in-law who recently became a Canadian Citizen.   The front of the quilt is pretty special but I may like the back just as much!

For the new Canadian, Karen thought adding some maple leaves to the backing would be very fitting and I couldn't agree more.  This isn't the first time Karen has wowed me with a quilt back - this one was pretty spectacular too!

We decided on the the Tickle Too pantograph and it continues the cheerful feeling. I love seeing other quilter's ...
